5 Tips for Cooking with CBD Oil

With the increased demand for CBD oil also comes an interest in using CBD oil in the kitchen. Here are five tips for cooking with CBD oil.

Watch the temperature

One of the most important things to remember when cooking with CBD oil is not to overheat the oil. It’s best to keep CBD oil under 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Exceeding this temperature will cause the oil to lose many of the elements that benefit your health including terpenes and phytonutrients.

It’s best to stay away from frying or baking food with CBD oil. Instead, add the CBD oil to baked or fried foods after they have been cooked and have had time to cool down a bit. This will ensure the oil doesn’t lose its effects.

When cooking with CBD oil, make sure you stir the food around frequently, so the oil is evenly spread throughout the dish. This will help make sure it doesn’t overheat from excessive contact with the pan.

Keep it fresh

CBD oil doesn’t necessarily go bad, but it can lose many of its important elements if it isn’t stored correctly. CBD oil is sensitive to heat and light, so it’s best to keep it stored in a cool, dark place. Try not to keep it sitting on the countertop where there may be plenty of natural light. Also keep it away from the kitchen stove or oven as prolonged exposure to heat can cause the oil to lose its effects. 

Start small

It’s always best to start small. Large amounts of CBD oil may give unexpected flavors to foods. If you’re not a big fan of the taste of CBD oil, stick with just a few drops in a dish that has a bold flavor, so it’s not an overwhelming flavor.

Flavor isn’t the only reason to start with small amounts of CBD oil. If you haven’t had experience using CBD oil, it’s best to try smaller amounts so you can gauge how it affects your body. The prime CBD dosage will be different for everyone—so slowly increase the amount until you find the right balance.

Quality matters

The quality of the CBD oil matters a lot. Low-quality CBD oil may require using large amounts to have any effect. Like all spices and ingredients, you want to use CBD oil tastefully. If you have to use excessive amounts to have the desired effect, it can ruin the flavor of a dish. 

Use with other oils and fats

CBD oil is excellent to use with other oils and fats such as olive oil, butter, vegetable oil, and nut oils. You can use CBD oil in salad dressings, sauces, or drizzle on top of a dish. You can also add CBD oil to desserts like cakes, cookies, and brownies which require oil or butter.

While CBD oil may not work with every dish, it can be a tasty and healthy addition to many recipes. Experiment until you find something you enjoy!
