7 Benefits of CBD Oil for Dogs

  1. CBD is an effective pain remedy for your canine companion.

Glow CBD oil and other products may prove to be of benefit to pets suffering from chronic pain. Cannabidiol, or CBD, is well-known for its pain-killing capacity and scientific research has found that CBD can help manage pain in different ways.

  1. CBD is a proven anticonvulsant for your dog.

Perhaps one of the best known medical uses for CBD is its ability to help control tremors, spasms, tics, and seizures. As a natural anticonvulsant, CBD can help suppress the quick firing of neurons when your dog experiences a seizure. The anticonvulsant potency of phenytoin increased significantly after it was fused with CBD and phenobarbital.

  1. CBD has anti-inflammatory benefits to your dog.

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory effects, CBD is believed to be extremely useful in treating a wide variety of conditions. The compound helps induce T cell apoptosis, reduce the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, reduce migration and adhesion of immune cells, and inhibits T cell proliferation.

  1. CBD helps reduces your dog’s stress and anxiety levels.

A small study done in 2010 found that CBD has the ability to reduce signs of social anxiety in people suffering from social anxiety disorder (SAD). The brain scans of people who took part in the study found that there were changes in blood flow to the regions of the brain linked to feelings of anxiety.

Just like humans do, pets can also suffer from stress, anxiety, trauma, and even several phobias. Consuming CBD has been shown to help alleviate these conditions to a certain degree.

  1. CBD is antiemetic for your dog.

There exists strong evidence indicating that CBD is a successful antiemetic. This means it can help control both vomiting and feelings of nausea while stimulating one’s appetite.

It is believed that the anti-emetic effects brought about by cannabidiol can be mediated through indirectly triggering somatodendritic 5-HT (1A) receptors so as to minimize the production of 5-HT in terminal forebrain regions.

  1. CBD can prevent the growth of a tumor in your dog.

Scientific research has found that CBD can help protect rats against colon cancer through inhibiting the development, growth, and spread of malignant tumors.

According to Dr. Peter McCormick, from UEA’s School of Pharmacy, Tetrahydrocannabinol is the main active component of marijuana and has several anti-cancer properties.

This compound works through a certain group of cell receptors known as cannabinoid receptors. However, it is not clear which among these receptors is responsible for the anti-tumor effects provided by tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
