If you vape, we have a bit of information for you that you’ve probably suspected for years: There’s nothing particularly cool about sucking on a box mod. People didn’t start using enormously powerful vaping devices to look good; box mods became popular because nothing else truly satisfied people with serious nicotine needs. Now that pod vaping systems and nicotine salt e-liquids exist, though, it’s a different story; real smokers can get all of the satisfaction they need from a sleek device that fits in any pocket and doesn’t create its own weather systems with enormous clouds.
You can’t enter a vape shop these days without finding a shelf full of pod systems in various shapes and sizes. Although box mods will always be popular within a certain subset of the vaping community, it’s obvious that pod systems have achieved real mainstream success and have become permanent parts of the tapestry of vaping. So, are you thinking about buying your first vape or ditching your big mod in favor of something a bit sleeker? Whether you’re new to vaping in general – or just new to pod systems – this article is for you. Use these tips to get the most from your pod system.
You can find an ample selection of pod vaping systems both at vape shops and at traditional tobacco retailers. There’s a major difference, though, in the types of systems that you’ll find at those retailers. Tobacco sellers carry pod systems either manufactured or financially supported by major tobacco companies. Those devices use pre-filled pods, and in the United States, pre-filled pods are only available in two flavors – tobacco and menthol – due to legal restrictions. Bottled e-liquid, on the other hand, is available in any flavor you like, so a refillable pod system is easily the best option if you want to experience the full variety of flavors possible with vaping. Refillable pod systems work with hundreds of different e-liquid flavors; pre-filled systems work with just two flavors.
The variety of available flavors isn’t the only feature that makes refillable pod systems better than pre-filled ones; refillable systems are also significantly less expensive to use. Compare the price of a pack of JUUL pods, for example, to the price of a bottle of e-liquid; you’ll find that they’re about the same. A pack of JUUL pods, however, lasts for four days at the most. A 30 ml bottle of nicotine salt e-liquid, on the other hand, contains the equivalent of nearly 43 JUUL pods at roughly the same price. You’ll also need to buy replacement pods for your device, of course, but you can refill those several times before you’ll need to replace them.
You’ll see two different types of e-liquid when you browse the selection at your local vape shop. Those two types are freebase nicotine e-liquid and nicotine salt e-liquid. The former typically has lower nicotine strengths ranging down from 18 mg to nicotine free, and the latter usually has a nicotine strength ranging up from 20-50 mg. While freebase nicotine e-liquid has an alkaline form of nicotine that can be irritating to the throat at high concentrations, nicotine salt e-liquid has a more neutral pH and is easier to inhale at high strengths. If you want your pod system to deliver the same level of satisfaction that you’d get from a tobacco cigarette, you need to fill it with nicotine salt e-liquid.
Refillable pod systems are only more affordable than pre-filled pod systems if you reuse the pods several times. If your pods only last through one or two uses before they begin to taste burned, you’ll end up spending a fortune on replacement pods.
The sweetener sucralose is the top reason why vape coils stop working before they should. That’s because sucralose caramelizes and sticks to the atomizer coil of a vaping device rather than turning to vapor like the other ingredients in e-liquid. In a very short time, the layer of sucralose residue thickens and begins to burn. Sucralose residue produces a burnt sugar flavor at first. When the residue burns, it causes throat discomfort. There is no fix for sucralose residue except to replace the coil or pod.
Sweetened e-liquid may taste as sweet as candy, but it reduces the life of a vaping coil to a fraction of what it could be.
Sweetened e-liquid isn’t the only thing that can condemn a vape coil to an early death; a burned wick can kill a pod even more quickly than that. A vape pod has a cotton or silica wick that draws e-liquid from the pod’s reservoir to the atomizer coil. Silica is extremely resistant to heat, but the heat from an atomizer coil can easily burn a cotton wick – and that can happen in an instant if you forget to refill a pod.
A vape pod always has a translucent exterior that you can use to check your e-liquid supply. If your vaping device doesn’t have a window allowing you to see the pod, remove the pod periodically to see how much e-liquid is left. Refill the pod when the e-liquid no longer covers the wick; don’t wait until the pod is completely empty, or you’ll end up with a burned wick and a ruined pod.
CBD is the hottest supplement in the world these days, and one of the most popular ways to use CBD is by vaping it because inhaled CBD enters the bloodstream immediately. You can vape CBD in your pod system, but you must keep an important thing in mind when doing that. You can’t vape straight CBD oil or any CBD vaping product with oil added. That’s because inhaling oil has a high risk of causing lipoid pneumonia. Look for a CBD e-liquid that’s diluted with propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin rather than oil.
If you’re looking to get your CBD vape game on, one of the first things you’ll discover is that there’s an enormous variety of CBD vaping products out there. Because vaping CBD allows it to absorb into the bloodstream extremely quickly through the lungs, it’s quickly emerging as one of the most popular ways of using the supplement – and companies around the world are offering as much CBD vape gear as possible to capitalize on that demand.
When you set out to choose the best CBD vape gear for your needs, your first order of business will be to select the hardware that suits your needs. Vape pens for CBD fall into two categories: disposable and rechargeable. Both types of devices have their own sets of benefits and drawbacks, and that’s what we’re going to discuss in this article.
So, how do disposable vs. rechargeable CBD vape pens compare? Let’s find out.
A CBD vape pen arrives from the factory with a full battery and a full tank of CBD vape oil. It’s a simple device with an automatic puff sensor and no manual controls; you just puff on it to vape. There’s nothing to fiddle with and no need to worry about adjusting the device’s settings, refilling the tank or recharging the battery. Until the battery dies, or the tank is empty, a disposable CBD vape pen is always ready for you when you need it.
If you’ve never tried CBD vaping before, a disposable vape pen is a great introduction because it requires a small investment and doesn’t require extensive planning or research beforehand. If you want to buy a rechargeable vape pen and a bottle of CBD e-liquid, on the other hand, you need to do some reading first if you want to have the best possible experience. Which vape pens work best with CBD? Which one has the combination of features and ease of use that fits your needs? Are all CBD e-liquids the same, or are some better than others? After you’ve done the research and selected the ideal product, you may decide that CBD vaping isn’t even for you. With a disposable CBD vape pen, you can try CBD vaping easily and do the research later if you decide to continue with it.
If you’re only an occasional CBD user, you may decide that CBD vape pens are the only products that you ever want to use. They’re inexpensive and incredibly convenient, which makes them perfect if you only vape once or twice a day. At that rate, a disposable vape pen can realistically last for several weeks.
A disposable CBD vape pen may be less expensive than a rechargeable device as a one-time investment, but it’s an investment that you’ll make over and over if that’s the only type of device that you use. If you’re only an occasional CBD user, spending a few extra dollars for a single-use device might be acceptable in exchange for the convenience of the fact that the device requires no maintenance and is always ready to use. If you’re the type of person who uses CBD constantly throughout the day, on the other hand, you’ll find that disposable CBD vape pens can quickly become very expensive.
If you use a rechargeable vape pen, you’ll pay a little more up front because you’ll need to buy the device along with a bottle of CBD e-liquid. If the vape pen doesn’t include a tank, you’ll need to buy one of those as well. Over time, though, you’ll find that a rechargeable vape pen costs much less to use because your only expenses will be bottles of e-liquid and replacement coils for your tank. A single bottle of CBD e-liquid contains as much CBD as many disposable vape pens at a fraction of the cost.
With many different companies producing CBD e-liquids, there’s a great deal of variation from one product to the next. The differences between the products aren’t just milligram strengths. Some CBD vape juices use full-spectrum hemp extracts, and others use CBD isolate. Some have added terpenes and flavors – and a few of them might have additives that you don’t want to inhale, such as Vitamin E and other oils.
A disposable CBD vape pen by a reputable brand should have an ingredient list on the package or on the maker’s website, but when you buy a no-name vape pen from a gas station or convenience store, you can’t be entirely certain about what you’re going to get.
Leaving aside any potential quality concerns with products from unknown makers, though, the biggest point of concern when you buy a disposable CBD pen is simply the fact that you can’t tailor the experience to meet your needs. After you’ve used CBD for a while, you’re going to form opinions about which products work best for you. If you use a rechargeable vape pen, you can fill your tank with whatever e-liquid you prefer.
If you’re a smoker, buying a rechargeable vape pen is a good idea for a reason that has nothing to do with CBD; it’s also an opportunity to replace your smoking habit with a new habit that could be less harmful. Having a vape pen with a refillable tank means that you can use whatever type of e-liquid you like – whether it’s CBD vape juice or nicotine e-liquid.
Many vape pens have removable tanks, which means that you don’t have to use the same tank for both CBD and nicotine e-liquid if you don’t want to. You can buy two tanks, filling them with different types of e-liquid and swapping them out whenever you like. Even if you think you’re a committed smoker, nicotine vaping is something that you should definitely try.
Everyone has his or her own reasons for vaping cannabis. For some people, the herb is strictly a medication; any pleasant sensation derived from vaping it is simply a nice side effect. For others, the enjoyment of cannabis is a worthy recreational pursuit unto itself. For some cannabis vapers, though, THC isn’t part of the equation at all. We’re talking, of course, about CBD vaping. Vaping CBD is a great way to enjoy many of the benefits of cannabis without the euphoria, paranoia and couch lock – and compared to oral products such as oils and capsules, vaping is a much faster way to get CBD into your bloodstream.
Like every other form of vaping, CBD vaping only gets better as you gain experience and discover new products and techniques – and reading this article, you’re going to benefit from our expertise. We’re about to share a few simple tips that can completely transform your CBD vaping experience.
If you’re like most people, you probably got started with CBD vaping by buying pre-filled CBD cartridges that can attach to most types of vape pens. Pre-filled cartridges are great for beginners, but they’re far from the only CBD products on the market. These are the four most common forms of CBD that people use for vaping.
Do you already have an e-liquid vaping device such as a pod vape? If you do, you can try CBD vaping and see if it’s right for you without buying new hardware. Simply pop open a used pod and refill the pod with the CBD e-liquid of your choice. Just remember that, to vape CBD with e-liquid vaping hardware, you must use a CBD vape oil diluted with propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin. Standard CBD oil will not work well with e-liquid vaping equipment. If you enjoy the experience, you’ll probably find it worthwhile to buy a dedicated CBD vaping rig.
E-liquid contains glycerin and propylene glycol, both of which are effective – though somewhat slow – solvents for drawing both THC and CBD out of cannabis flowers. You can, therefore, enhance your favorite CBD e-liquid by adding ground flowers directly to it. You’ll increase the CBD content of your e-liquid while enhancing it with the full cannabinoid profile of your preferred cannabis strain. Here’s how it works:
As mentioned above, glycerin and propylene glycol do not extract cannabinoids nearly as efficiently as other solvents such as ethanol. You can shorten the process by heating your mixture gently. A slow cooker works well for this. You’ll get the best flavor, however, with cold extraction. When you’ve finished using your herbs to enhance your e-liquid, let them dry and vape them in your dry herb vaporizer to extract the last of the cannabinoids.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve no doubt read about the vaping-related lung illness that’s sickened more than 2,000 people in the United States this year. The best available information suggests that the primary culprits are illegal pre-filled THC vaping cartridges produced privately for sale on the streets. Vitamin E acetate is used to dilute the cartridges while making them appear as though their THC content is higher than it actually is. Until people began using it to dilute THC vape oils, no one had ever tried inhaling Vitamin E before – and it appears that doing so may cause severe lung damage.
You might wonder why the lung illness should matter to you if you don’t use THC vaping products. Why would anyone want to dilute CBD vape oil, after all, when it is a completely legal product? The reason why you should view CBD vaping products with some skepticism is because CBD oil is still very expensive even though it’s legal. Regardless of whether the plant that you’re extracting is industrial hemp or marijuana, it takes a lot of hemp to make a little hemp oil. Diluting a batch of CBD vape oil, in other words, is an easy way to make the batch significantly more profitable.
You might assume that no legitimate domestic CBD brand would be so brazen as to dilute its CBD vape oil with Vitamin E, and you’re probably correct about that. Everyone in the vaping industry is aware of the lung illness and knows that Vitamin E currently appears to be the likely cause. However, many CBD brands aren’t sourcing their CBD oil domestically; they’re buying it in bulk from exporters in China. Unless those companies are sending their products out for laboratory tests, they don’t know if those products are diluted or adulterated. When you buy pre-filled CBD vaping cartridges, buy from a reliable company that tests its products in an outside laboratory.
